Kanye West recently enjoyed quality time with three of his children in Tokyo, amidst reports that Kim Kardashian may seek legal action if West intends to relocate to Japan permanently. Here’s what you need to know.
Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, continue to spend time in Tokyo, Japan, while West reportedly finishes his latest album. The rapper’s fans wonder when he plans to return to the States, as he’s lived abroad since mid-2024. In January 2025, he spent time with three of his kids in Tokyo. This occurred after previous reports suggested Kim Kardashian might be planning a legal battle if he tries to make Japan his forever home.

Kanye West and Bianca Censori are no strangers to the jet-setting lifestyle. And they’ve made a second home for themselves in Tokyo hotel rooms. Currently, West is working on his self-produced album, Bully, while abroad. “This album is 100% him,” a source close to West said, according to music journalist Touré claimed on Substack. “He’s producing everything 100% himself. This will be 100% Kanye West, which is hasn’t been in many, many years.”
Touré suggests that West appreciates the privacy that comes with residing in Japan, allowing him to avoid interruptions from fans and paparazzi. While this solitude may benefit West's creative pursuits, it poses a challenge for Kim Kardashian, who is raising their four children in Los Angeles. The couple shares custody of North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5.
Exclusive photos from DailyMail.com show West finally reuniting with three of his kids in Tokyo after 118 days apart. Saint, Chicago, and Psalm were seen walking into a 7-Eleven with their dad in the Ginza district.
"A dark van emerged from the front, and just like that, the kids darted inside while Kanye trailed behind, attempting to blend in at the 7-Eleven with his hood pulled up," recounted an eyewitness. "The kids were on a shopping spree — they filled two tote bags with an assortment of lollipops and snacks. A few other families and I spotted him."
North and Censori did not attend the event. It is still uncertain whether North is in Tokyo visiting West or if she is staying in LA with Kardashian.
A source reports that Kim Kardashian may seek legal representation and possibly engage in a legal battle with Kanye West if he decides to make a permanent relocation to Tokyo.

Kim Kardashian wants her kids to have a relationship with their father, Kanye West. However, co-parenting isn’t easy from a distance. A source told In Touch Weekly that Kardashian is “very worried” about what will happen if West and Bianca Censori move to Tokyo full-time.
“Whispers have been circulating for some time that Kanye is planning to move to Tokyo and discuss new custody arrangements with Kim, as he hopes to have the kids visit him there regularly once he’s established,” the source revealed. “This clearly brings a variety of logistical issues and difficulties, and Kim is quite anxious about what lies ahead if he proceeds with his plans.”
According to the source, Kardashian is expected to hire legal representation and potentially contest him at every turn if required, although it’s clear that this is the last situation she wishes to confront.
Bianca Censori reportedly desires a life that is more stable and grounded.
"The source revealed, 'She has been advocating for a more stable and settled lifestyle. The frequent relocations and never-ending changes in plans are really frustrating her, and she has finally taken a stand, insisting that they establish a permanent home.'"
An insider mentioned that West's decision to take Censori to Japan while "dragging" her along made her feel quite isolated.
